About Russell

Russell Levy is the Founder and President of Veterans Transition Support (VTS), an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides no-cost training, certification preparation, and career transition education for military members, veterans, and military families.

Before founding VTS in 2014, Russell spent more than 25 years in operations management, business consulting, and corporate leadership across manufacturing, technology, and service industries. He holds a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer.

Recognizing that many transitioning service members already possess exceptional leadership and operational experience—but lack the civilian credentials employers screen for—Russell designed VTS’s practical, hands-on certification programs to bridge the military-to-civilian gap without using GI Bill benefits.

Teaching Philosophy

Russell believes that transitioning service members do not need to start over—they need to translate the leadership, discipline, and operational problem-solving they already practiced in uniform into the language and credentials valued by civilian employers.

His classes combine real-world process improvement projects with practical workplace examples so graduates leave with both a certification and the confidence to apply it immediately on the job.

Every service member leaves the military with real leadership and problem-solving experience. Our job is to give them the civilian credentials and vocabulary so employers immediately recognize their value.
